In this article we analyze the physical layer (PHY) of the Long Term Evolution Advanced (LTE-A) standard that the workgroup 3GPP (3rd Generation Partnership Project) proposes as a solution to accomplish the 4G (Fourth Generation) compatibility requirements defined by the ITU-R (International Telecommunication Union) including up to 1 Gbps for downlink and 500 Mbps for uplink bit rates [1].
