Abstract

We present a new set of tools used for signal compression and restoration. Curvelets and Ridgelets transforms represent a new alternative to the wavelet transform for compression and restoration of n-dimensional signals. Analysis by the wavelet Transform (WT) has grown thanks to its applicability in different areas. Some areas of application are signal restoration, signal compression, and coding, and more specifically in the case of images. WT however does not give good results in two-dimensional signals, as in the case of images when they present discontinuities. This is where the new transformations arise. These new transformations are known as Ridgelets and Curvelets.
