Abstract
The characterization of existing urban voids in the Historic Center of Colima is presented, seeking to define their characteristics and the areas of opportunity for these spaces that are latent for use. The database produced by the Planning Institute for the municipality of Colima (IPCO) in 2012 is retrieved. From this information, an instrument was generated that allows us to have a broad panorama of its current state, surroundings, and susceptibility to being retrieved. It was found that 57% of the voids identified themselves as a means to develop the lack of existence, suitable to integrate the urban dynamics through residential and commercial uses, thanks to the existence of services and infrastructure in the area, in addition, it was found that the 43% present an integration to the city through different vocations, which are not urban voids. This characterization makes it possible to generate planning and projecting strategies, it is concluded that these can be adapted to “pocket spaces”, “active gardens”, and the creation of “urban catalysts” and the right to find the guidelines that allow a development-oriented to a compact model that allows the greatest use of vertical models in those that can create mixed uses that encourage the revitalization of the city center.
