Abstract

This paper presents an overview of broadband services and applications. We describe the development of data transmission systems since its inception and how it has developed the technology. The presentation includes the following topics: Applications and broadband services, links for telephone modems, dedicated lines and Digital Subscriber Connection (xDSL), Cable TV Systems, Wireless and Satellite Systems, Services and future applications, and finally give some conclusions.
