Abstract

In this paper, we present an architectural approach based on Wireless Sensor Network for health care and the progress that it has. The proposed architecture consists of wearable sensor nodes, a bridge 802.15.4/IEEE 802.11, a local server and a remote server (physician server). This architecture allows the monitoring of physiological variables in patients about their daily lives, both at home or in a building that has the proposed infrastructure. The variables that currently can be monitored through the implemented architecture are: temperature, heart rate and electrocardiogram (ECG), also includes the measurement of context variables (lighting, room temperature and humidity), all these variables are transmitted through of a wireless sensor network to a sink node and displayed on a PC.
