Abstract

Personal Health Systems (PHSs) are systems that offer tools to support changes in user’s behavior, such as medication schedule, diets, exercise, etc. These PHS may be either based on fixed or mobile devices. When a PHS is based on mobile devices, it may be considered part of mobile health (m-Health) technology; in this paper we define this kind of systems as Personal Mobile Health Systems (PMHS). Wireless Communication Technologies (WCT) are the means through from which reciprocal communication is possible between physical elements and mobile devices; in this research project will be investigate the WCT implemented in PMHS: Bluetooth, IEEE 802.15.4 and Near Field Communication (NFC), which will provide results of test on comparisons between these technologies. These tests are based on prototypes designed for people with cardiovascular diseases and diabetes, because these diseases cause millions of death worldwide.
